My boss is in a meeting and I get an email from NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards) saying my test results from my exam last friday are ready for viewing. My stomach dropped. It was unusually fast to get a result. I’m so nervous I kept messing up my email/password.

the excitement lasted until I realized I still have 4 more (of 7) exams to go. There will certainly be a victory beer tonight when I get home!

all completed. I think you’ll have a new set of exams from whats sucking my soul apart. Each exam has a drawing section using a CAD-knockoff. I’ve heard they are going away. they suck

I have a masters in Architecture. This is for my Architectural Stamp, which I guess is our equivalent of passing the Bar exam for lawyers.

i think it would depend on the office more than the work. I havn’t really been doing this stuff long enough to get the full experience. This has more variety. in a little less than 2 months i’ve been involved in a couple larger condo buildings (12-18 units) a hotel addition, a used BMW service garage addition, and a couple smaller condo buildings ( stand alone units and doubles). The residential stuff got repetitive but that also could have been that the guy I worked for had a certain style and didn;t stray too far from him comfort zone. this place i’m being introduced to a variety of building materials. The codes are far more intricate and demanding. all that stuff seems to be a huge pain in the ass - bidding process, codes, city approvals..... which its not just for a person but the public, there is a lot more legal stuff involved
